Knock Sensor Failures Are Common

Knock sensors are common failure items for Subarus, when they do fail they will set a check engine light for codes P0325 or P0328. Although it won't keep the car from driving, it can affect timing advance and fuel economy, so it should be replaced as soon as possible.

This is extremely easy to replace while performing engine repairs like a head gasket, but also not too bad to do on it's own if you have the right sockets and extensions. Be careful when tightening and consult your service manual for exact torque specs on your model, most of them are quite low however as these can crack easily.
